Does anyone have a thought about a project that would be interesting? I have been to several in person lectures on the new requirements and all that I have learned so far is that not even nccpa knows what these requirements will be, only what the topic headings are. it starts next year and there are zero guidelines for what is an an acceptable project. the presenters have all said there will be a variety of acceptable pathways. I asked the presenter at the last nccpa mtg I attended this question: " if I write I learned that trimalleolar fractures are bad on a napkin and turned it in would that count" and he said " I don't know." Well, no, it'll be more formal than that. We have a process in place here, and the physician groups have already been implementing PI-CME, so it'll be along those lines.... It could be something simple, but you have to actually put some work into it. One simple concept would be: What percentage of our patients have vital signs completed at the right time when in the ED and giving narcotics? You could complete a review (3 months, 6 months, etc. just have to show rationale) and then develop an educational tool or process improvement tool to try and improve the numbers....then measure again 3 months later.....
