Online Classes-Add to the List!

Recommended Posts

Ok....so there are a TON of threads about online courses. I was hoping we could make this thread a sticky and it could become a one stop source for those looking for certain online courses. I think to make it easy for everyone, if we could just stick with the main pre-req courses like medical terminology, bio chemistry, organic chemistry, pathophysiology, genetics ect. it would be great. Also if anyone knows where to find recommended courses online like histology, virology, endocrinology, immunology ect. that would be great too.

It’s also important to note that ANYONE seeking to take online versions of their pre-req courses should first contact the programs that they are interested in as some might not accept this type of credit. They should also be aware that a lb component may be needed and might not be offered online.

Now that I have said that, I have run into A LOT of these courses online. The first place I would like to post is Chemeketa. They offer bio, a&p, micor, chem., organic I and an organi/biochem intro course online. I thought they were cool because if you register as a completely online student you pay instate tuition.

Indian River State College also has Microbiology (MCB 2010) and Anatomy and Physiology I & II (BSC 2093 and 2094)

They also have medical terminology I and II....not sure which ones are applicable for different programs. The course numbers are HSC 2531 and HSC 2532

Thanks!:D

Im sure more of these schools have terminology and micro and such but I only have info for the classes I was looking for:p

I think with their med term part II is just a continuation, but im really not sure

St petersburg College has a medical terminology for 2 credit hours but you have to take a 1 credit computer course first:rolleyes:

UCF also has an online medical terminology....honestly I think just about every school has med term online lol

Thank you for the list. I have a question, will PA programs accept pre-reqs from a CC? I already have a BS degree and just need a couple pre-reqs to apply to PA school. If I could take them online and through a Comm College because it costs less that would be great, but I'm afraid PA schools will look down on my taking courses online at the community college level...let me know what you think??

Thanks

bradTPA is correct...I have seen at least 1 school say that pre-reqs MUST be taken at a 4 year and then I have seen at leats 1 or 2 that say things like "prefered" or "upper level sciences should/must be taken at a 4 year" you really need to check out their website or call the program directly.

Now I have called a few about online pre-reqs and most of the ones that I called didnt have a problem just as long as it was an accredited school. They did stress that I needed the lab and that many online programs do not supply an online lab...HOWVER there are many that do.

Best I can say is call them before you get yourself set up to take them online and make sure you take it with a professor that knows thier stuff and doesnt let you just slide along in class.

I am a proud supporter of online classes...im graduating with my AA this saturday because of online classes BUT I also took a few science courses online that I plan to take over. My intro to chem and bio were great and prepared me for general bio and chem HOWEVER my A&P professor was also a full time physician and didnt really put his all into our A&P course and made it quite easy to get through....it didnt go into enough depth so Im taking it again.

He wasnt a bad professor, but he taught it more like a "survey of" course as opposed to pre-med level.

Ocean County Community College (NJ). I'm currently re-taking Bio 1 and A&P1 and they're 100% online (including lab). They also offer Chem. 1 & 2 with lab, micro, and many other science and non-science classes that are 100% online.
