The Montana board of medical examiners (BOME) re-instated a statute that states PA’s must have at least one year of “acute care” experience before being able to work in an emergency department within the state of Montana. This statute was repealed (by the BOME) some years ago, but has now been re-instated. There is no provision (as it is written) for experience in other fields, nor is there any accommodation for training a pa in acute care during that first year.
