Michael Banuchi founded the PA Forum in 1998 and graduated from Nova Southeastern University PA Program in 2002 with a B.S. in P.A. studies and Masters in Public Health. Michael works in Coral Springs doing general Dermatology as well as Mohs surgical repairs. He currently lives in Boca Raton, FL with his wife, Angelique and 3 year old daughter, Brooke.
Today the largest majority of Americans are taking some type of herbal medications. They have followed the Pied Piper wherever he has marched, in streets, on ad boards, in magazines and journals, on TV and radio ads, on net sites, observing the comments of famous musicians and actors, from providers of health care, there is nowhere that this modality has not been spoken of.

Jesse Shuff was holding a black bag Friday as he stood in front of a supply closet in the Physician Assistant Department at Georgia Health Sciences University.
“Anything else we can throw in here?” he asked the other first-year physician assistant students picking through medical supplies. Concerned about the availability of flu shots for Augusta’s homeless, the physician assistant students dug out $1,260 to buy 100 shots for the homeless that they will distribute in a clinic today. Part of it came from money left to them by a previous class and some comes from their own fundraisers.

Last year was a record for Physician Assistants. According to the AAPA 2010 Census Report, the number of PA’s reached 83,466. This is a 100% increase from 10 years ago. The Census Report even noted this increase while the economy has been down.

The University of Charleston has announced that a new PA program will begin in January, 2013. They believe that this program is needed due to nationwide demand for more Physician Assistants. The only other PA programs in West Virginia are Alderson-Broaddus College and Mountain State University. The accreditation commission will make its first onsite visit in April,2012. The first class of 24 students which starts in January, 2013 will graduate in the spring of 2015.
